Frequently Asked Questions
1. How much do the units cost?
Perth Avenue Housing Co-op offers one and two bedroom units (for people who are physically challenged), two bedroom units and three bedroom units. The monthly housing charge (or rent) is as follows:
1 bedroom ranges from $911.00 – $927.00 *

Parking is available, above and underground, and the monthly charge is $45.00
2. Why do housing charges vary?
Housing charges are priced according to size, unit layout and location. Since some units are larger than others, the prices differ accordingly.
3. Is Housing Assistance available?
At the current time, Perth Co-op only has market rents. There is no subsidy available at Perth Co-op.
4. Are people on Social Assistance programs or pensions accepted in the Co-op?
Yes – if they meet the criteria to become a Co-op member.
5. How long will it take to get a unit?
After you have handed in your completed application it is processed by the staff and the Board of Directors. An interview will be arranged and someone from the Co-op (usually from either the Members Selection Committee, the staff or the Board of Directors) will meet with you and the other applicants in your family. Once you are interviewed, a recommendation will go to the Board of Directors.
Once approved by the Board, you will be given a unit if there is one available. If there are no units available, then you will be placed on the waiting list. This process could take some time.
You will be informed, in writing, if your application for Co-op membership has been either accepted or rejected.
6. When will a unit be available?
When your application for Co-op membership is approved, you will be notified by the Co-op office. If there are no available units at the time of your approval, you will be placed on the waiting list for a unit.
Your move-in date depends on a number of factors, such as the availability of units and your place on the waiting list – you are placed on the waiting list by date of complete application.
